Missouri RYLA Academy Guidelines


MO RYLA has a worldwide reputation for going above and beyond with our curriculum, staff and students. We have immaculate reputations with our vendors and most importantly, our host university venues. As guests at the University of Central Missouri, we have high standards and guidelines that all of the staff and participants adhere to. We want to make sure that everyone is aware of what we expect.

RYLA Guidelines:

·        You are a required to attend ALL sessions and activities.

·        As guests of the University of Central Missouri (UCM), you must treat all facilities and personnel with respect.

·        When in doubt about the use of the facilities, ask a counselor or director.

·        No tobacco products, vaping, illegal substances, or unauthorized use of prescription substances.

·        Stay in your assigned dorm room after “Lights Out”.

·        Observe boundaries as established by the RYLA director(s) and staff.

·        Sexual harassment in any form will not be tolerated.

·        No one of the opposite gender allowed on the other gender dorm floors.

·        Each individual is required to follow current COVID safety protocols.

  • At no time should there be any public displays of affection during the academy including kissing, hand holding,

    touching or other intimate displays between participants or between participants and staff at any time.


University of Central Missouri Building Use Guidelines:

·        Unauthorized use of space and equipment may result in penalties and fines.

·        Nails, pins, tacks, glue guns, tape or anything that might leave a residue behind are not permitted.

·        Glitter in any form is not allowed.  Glitter damages carpet fibers when vacuumed, causing cuts and tears in the carpeting.  A $250 fine may result if found not adhering to university policy.

·        Candles are not permitted. Also, to check if you are reading this, leave your Star Wars light saber at home. :)

·        UCM is a tobacco-free campus.

·        Fire escapes are strictly off limits except in cases of emergency.  Fire exits may not be blocked.

·        Do not remove screens from windows or prop open exterior doors.

·        Do not play catch or bounce balls inside of buildings.

·        A lost key or meal card will result in a $100 replacement fee.

·        Do not run in the buildings.

·        Take care of the facilities by keeping the trash picked up in you are and disposing it in trash receptables, including common rooms. 

·        Be sure to TURN OUT LIGHTS and LOCK THE DOOR when you are not in your room. 

·        Do not stand or jump on furniture. If the furniture is moved from it’s original spot in the rooom (example: bunching the beds) there will be an additional charge to both participants.
